How Permisive Parents Threaten Parental Rights
My source is an article by Patricia Reaney of Reuters and is about a study that found a link between pre teen dating and smoking young. The possible reason given for this in the article is that both are a result of the children wanting to be adults. That makes sense as advertisers play on that desire to pitch products and services to kids. Some of those items are not age appropriate.
I believe that if the researchers have tested it they would have found the parents who allowed their preteens to date were more permissive. Because of negative peer pressure those permissive parents effect even non permissive parents though the actions of their poorly disciplined children.
Source 1 is the article by Patricia Reaney.
Source 2 is abstract of study that found link between substance abuse, risky sex, parental permissiveness and negative peer pressure.
Source 3 is characteristics of a “typical child” from 8 to age 18.

That seemed far fetched at first, but I think I understand. Good way to connect the dots.
